Sister club Watsonians Cricket Club announce the launch of their women's section.

Watsonian Cricket Club is delighted to announce the launch of its new Women's Section. The aims of the new section, which will be an integral part of the whole club, are to widen participation in cricket amongst women and, hopefully, to form a team to participate in the 2014/15 Scottish winter indoor competitions and in the 2015 Women's National League.

As part of its commitment to this initiative, WCC is providing initial expert coaching support for the women's section through Dewald Nel, who is in the process of completing his English Cricket Board Level 3 coaching qualification and is a Watsonian and Scotland player. Dewald has also had spells playing for Worcestershire and Kent. Other colleagues of Dewald's in his coaching company, 619 Coaching, will provide coaching support.

Regular training sessions will be held indoors through the winter (apart from Xmas and Easter breaks) on Friday evenings starting on 24 October 2014 at the Centre for Sport, George Watson's College, Colinton Road, Edinburgh, EH10 5EG from 19.00 to 20.30.

Women and girls of or above the age of 14 are very welcome to attend these sessions, both those who are new to cricket (even just as a "taster") and those who have had experience of the game.
