Match Report by Murray Cannon

We started off the first half to a hot start, scoring a quick goal which was scored by Greg with some really good team play. Soon there was another brilliant opportunity when Murray Cannon expertly tackled the centre back, went round the keeper and proceeded to smash the ball of the post missing the open goal.

They ran a high press and we struggled to move the ball round the back, they won a short corner and converted it by a back to injector routine. 1-1.

We started the second with a 3-2-3-2 formation, hoping that it might help defend against them, however that proved unsuccessful and we lost 2 quick goals, one a penalty flick , the other scored due to some poor defending and an opening in space around the penalty spot where one of their players carefully slotted it in the bottom corner. 3-1. At one point Alexander Raez decided that it was a good idea to do a squarial across the defence, going straight to the opposing centre forward.
Nice one.

Watsonians worked hard and fought back and managed to get another goal with 15 minutes to go; classic Hogie hit into the corner. This motivated us greatly and we continued on putting pressure on them well, pressing the D well and winning shorts. Unfortunately converting none.

With around 3 minutes to go they suffered a head injury where we got a chance to gather our thoughts and we decided to take the keeper Doug Swanson off and put on a kicking back (Rich Gray). We got a short in the last minute with all 11 players around the opposing D, but again failed to score, resulting in a devastating 3-2 defeat.
