More than just a league match!

Some matches are bigger than others. Some matches are more than just about 3 points. Some matches are about much more.

One side we had the old guard, the league champions, the 2017 Scottish cup semi-finalists. The other, the fresh-faced, new kids on the block keen to make a name for themselves. The trash-talking had ended, now was time to for a titanic clash to lay claim the 3s name!

With a sell-out crowd expecting a battle, the Tipperlin amphitheatre roared. The teams traded blows weighing each other up, looking for a chink in the armour. Both formations stood-fast, the 3s playing the 4-3-3 club formation with the 4s playing the rather unconventional 3-2-3-2.

Through a lengthy passage of dominating attack mid-way through the first half the 4s broke the deadlock with a well-worked team goal scored by Bullard. Had this fuelled the 3s fire to fight back? Half-time came and gave both sides and the fans time to breathe, reflect on the first half and agree tactics the next 35 minutes!

The 3s came out in the second half like hounds on a hunt. Pinned back in their half, the 4s came under wave after wave of attack but fox-like experience and cunning began to shine through, not least with Booth, more used to finding glory at the other end of the field, steering the ship from Centre Back controlling the play.

Final score 1-0 to the 4s. Bragging rights until they meet again.
