Jug avoidance

On one over cast morning Watsonians 4s travelled to Glennrothes to play Carnegie 5s. With Watsonians 4s having only played 2 game since coming back after the winter break, everyone was looking forward to a good game.

With the 4s missing regular keeper Calum Hogg who decided that he'd rather go watch Scotland lose yet again (he will be fined for this at the end of season), So in stepped the under 16 goalkeeper Euan Hamilton. It was not just our regular keeper that we were missing we also were missing right back Alistair Gaul and midfielder Stuart Tilston two key players recently. Watsonians set up with regular defenders Mathew Oliver, David Baring, Simon Cox and Rob Powell, a have strong midfield with John Eills and Andrew Cockburn on the wings and in the centre was Ozzie Lobo and Alan Timlin. Up front was regulars captain Fraser Munro and Alex MacCormac

Watsonians started strong in a scrappy first few minutes and were first to test either keeper after a ball hit into the circle fell to Fraser, who's reverse stick shot was turned wide by the keeper. Watsonians were first to draw blood when after an excellent tackle by Simon Cox played it up to Fraser who got passed two defenders before passing to John who put it across the gaol for Alex to tap the ball in. First half finished 1-0 to Watsonians.

Watsonians came out the stronger in the second half and within 10 minutes were 2-0 up after a ball played down the line from Andrew Berk to Fraser who took the ball into the circle and played it across to Alex for his second goal and second tap of the game. Soon after Alex got his hat-trick after Andrew thumped the ball goal-wards and Alex got this third tap in, I think in future games we'll just glue him to the post (but he dose have a jug avoidious . With attack after attack it wasn't long before Watsonians won a sort corner. After the first shot by Alan was blocked the rebound fell back to him and he played it across the circle where Fraser reverse stick shot curled into the top corner of the goal. Carnegie then bagged a goal back after a ball played into the circle seamed to pass everyone before ending up in the goal. Soon after some excellent solo play down the line for John he finished off a great move.

Over all a good weekends work from the 4s if we continue to play the way we did we will be pushing for a promotion sport.
