Wining the league

Watsonains 4th XI went into their Final game of the season requiring a signal point to secure not only promotion to East District 2 but also the title of champions. On previous visits to Linlithgow Academy the usual forecast is hypothermia but this time you were more likely to get sun stroke. With the sun beating down Watsonains prepared for a full warm up, at least most of the team with Adam Marsh (Biffa) admitting he was still drunk. After inspiring words from the usual suspects Fraser Munro, Ozzie Lobo, Drunk Biffa, Alan Timlin and John Ellis, the team lined up on the pitch.
Watsonains look the most threatening in the opening exchanges pressing high up the pitch putting pressure on the defence. After a foul just inside the 23 meter John charged round the back unchallenged and squeezed the ball into the goal 1-0 Watsonains. More pressure was put on the Falkirk defence but they stayed strong then after a route 1 ball caught the defence too far up the pitch and made it 1-1, frustrating but still on track to win the league.

Half time came and the message was simple keep doing what we are doing and lets win this. Start of the second half more pressure came and eventually the men in maroon were rewarded with a penalty corner, Alan said that he had pulled his hamstrings and would be going off after this and what a way to do it, with a low driving shot under the keeper Watsonains went 2-1 in front. With more pressure being applied on the Falkirk the Watsonains defence was again caught too high up the pitch and Falkirk made it 2-2. Final seconds of the match with again a route 1 ball through Falkirk's attack with chasing the ball with Rob Powell, out rushes keeper Calum to put a boot through the ball only for the umpiring to award a penalty corner for third party obstruction and then blow the full time whistle. He was the most hated man at this point with hearts in everyone's mouth. Nick a first runner was out so strong and was unlucky for the ball to hit is foot and give Falkirk another penalty corner. Falkirk decided to do something different and slip the ball left first shot was save by Calum the cleared out the circle by Simon the celebrations could now start with a final score of 2-2 that all important point gain.
Celebrations we good with the team enjoying a few drinks at Myreside. The team will enjoy the feeling for champions. Going up next season to division 2 will be a big jump. SO BE READY CASUE PRE SEASON STARTS NOW!!!!!
