Frustrating

On an unusually sunny day in the capital Watsonains 4’s welcomed Falkirk 3’s to tipperlinn. With some regulars missing from the line up in stepped a number of extra players due to large numbers in the 3’s.

The team talk was simple let’s keep the ball in a number of game we have had a tendency to play the hit and hope ball let’s keep the ball and use our fitness as an advantage.

As the match got underway sonians put Falkirk under pressure regular Stuart Tiltson making some excellent runs down the wings and forwards Adam Kinghorn and #Munro making movement to support. Andrew providing support in the centre gave the men in maroon a strong start. Maroon shirts found some space to drive into the D is shot only stopped going in by the cross bar. By this point Falkirk’s umpire arrived and they gained an extra player who would prove critical for keeping the men in maroon out. Throwing long aerials forward and finding some space Falkirk got the first short corner which after some scrappy play ended up in the goal. Watsonians were perhaps unlucky not to be awarded a PF after a Falkirk defender defender go to ground to stop Adam getting a shot off but also playing the ball away with his hand. The men in maroon would end the half a man up after a Falkirk forward kept complaining to umpire Sandy Hendry on walking to the sin bin a comment was made with the other umpire upping the card to yellow.

Half time talk was that we shouldn’t be 0-1 down we were playing the better hockey and were unlucky. We also talked about making tighter at the back but to go out and continue to work hard and something should hopefully break.

Second half started and much the same for the time that the men in maroon were a man after both team were at 11 aside the game ended up being played very openly but neither team threatening each other’s goal. The only real chance for Falkirk in the second half ended in a second goal after the first shot was saved by keeper Doug the other forward had a tap in 0-2 to Falkirk. After some good skills by Stuart Watsonains got their first PC of the game. The push out and stop were excellent and a slow straight drag from #Munro nearly crept in between the keepers legs but was stopped on the line by the post player and cleared.

A great team performance some sold defending from Simon Cox, Sean Conkie, Ian MacDonald, Tony Alan and Conor Small help keeping Falkirk out of the Sonians half. Great midfield play from Andrew Beck, Rob Powell, and Stuart Tilston helping get forward up the pitch. Great forward play from #Munro and Adam Kinghorn to help put pressure on the defenders. Topped off with some great goalkeeping from Dough Swanson.

Man of the match was given to Jamie Bridgefoot for his excellent defending and helping get forward.
No DoD awarded as the performance from everyone on the team no one deserved DoD

Thanks to Sandy for umpiring.
