Who Needs subs

After a few months off over the summer Watsonains Men's 4's travelled through to Glasgow Green home of the 2014 Commonwealth games hockey pitch unfortunately playing on the slightly less famous pitch 2. With a last minute injury call off from centre back Simon Cox the 4's went with just 11 players message was lest just keep things simple.
First half and it was going to be clear that we'd be on the back foot for the majority of the game. With lots of pressure coming from the sides it wasn't long before Rottenrow made the break through and quickly added another 2-0 down the men in maroon were still creating pressure with centre midfielder Alan and Ozzie spreading play wide to Stuart and Josh on the wings. Watsonains were pushing for a goal with forward Fraser just hitting wide and Alex making the keeper save a few shot's. Alex finally made the break through with a great goal sending the ball between the keepers legs. Unfortunately Watsonains would go in to the half time break 3-1 down after Rottenrow hammered the ball high into the net shortly after.

Half time some tactical changes were made witching Josh and Stuart to opposite wings and moving Alex Blood higher up the pitch to support Fraser. Main message was to stay positive and keep the simple things going.
Second half started much the same as the first half Watsonains Euan Hamilton must have thought that it was the commonwealth goal medal match again as he pull out stops that you would expect to see the world best pulling out. Going forward with the tactical change saw more coming forward and with the ball coming through to Fraser at the top of the circle unmarked he fired the ball between the keeper's legs.
More pressure fallowed and with a ball across the goal found Josh sitting at the back post ready to tip the ball in it was now 3-3. Rottenrow were not going to take give up with Euan saving shot's from all angles he was not going to be beaten easily. With 6 minutes left on the clock after some excellent link up from defence with Paul and Rob who found Josh on the side-line slips the ball to Alex for found Fraser as the keeper came out a PS could have came the way of Watsonains but the big forward stood his ground and turned the ball into the goal 4-3 6 minute to go. With more and more pressure on the Watsonains goal when the full time whistle went everyone n maroon was over the moon. An excellent start to season 2015/16 and the final message was that if we can have the same determination to go and play like that every week then we have a good change of stay up in the league this season.
