Last gasp agony (ok that's a bit much).

"Skip, what's it like to not win?". "I don't know son, but let's hope you never have to find out."

Well we did. But remain unbeaten at the top of East 4 as #projectpromotion hits a speed bump but carries on regardless.

In what was always going yo be our toughest test of the year so far, it was a fast start by both teams, with plenty of skill on show. Uni pressed but some stout defending and anticipation kept them out and our boys settled into the game and started to press forward. Some good work by Greg Robertson released Will Evans who pressed forward into the D and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the bottom left hand corner. Just deserts after an impressive period of play.

A further period of pressure and a few short corners followed, but we headed in at half time 1-0 up. An extra man was pushed up front as the lads looked to exploit the space out wide and go for the kill, but it was Uni who struck next, exploiting some slackness at the back shortly after a defensive substitution (captain should have stayed on the bench!).

We kept pushing forward though and regained the lead from one of the many hundreds of short corners which were won in succession, Will Evans finding Andrew Mortimer who slotted home coolly. It was almost 3-1 a few moments later as Greg Robertson went on a mazy run and found himself one on one with the keeper, only to clear the crossbar. It's not shinty, pal. The team and his many fantasy hockey owners looked on aghast.

Into the closing minutes and some tired defending (el gaffer was certainly feeling the pace) let Uni in again and an unfortunate deflection off Jamie Bridgefoot, deputising heroically in goals, left the Uni striker with a tap in to an empty net.

2-2 it finished, and both teams will feel they could have won it at the end. A point probably a fair result although a more painful one for the visitors, having led for so long.

A special mention for the Uni hospitality, as some fine nachos in the Peffermill bar provided the perfect stodge as preparation for the evening's Pub Golf social.

MoM: Cammy Lambie.

DoD: Not voted on, to save the captain's blushes
