1-0 win

Our outing vs Ross High provided us with another win to add to our collection this season, although this was our most fraught match to date. Thankfully we had a full squad with which to ride into battle against the Tranentians, with a great system of rolling on and off ensuring we had fresh feet on pitch every ten minutes or so vs a more youthful, faster side.

Unfortunately from the offset this game was anything but friendly, with the disgruntled members of the opposition kindly offering their thoughts on any passes or mistakes made on their behalf. Much to our advantage it quickly became evident as more of us had the opportunity to talk that this was not emanating from just one or even two individuals.

As half time came we confirmed that the opposition were in fact not very happy campers and were berating each other across the board. The score line remained 0-0 and after discussions we were fired up to show Ross High how good team communications can win a game. Our normal calm playing style favouring possession rather than great speed was replaced with extra strength and added aggression from all and some excellent breakthroughs were made from the well defended trenches. Soon into the second half we scored a necessary goal. It is uncharacteristic of our squad to show much excitement vocally before a match is won, however the competitive nature of this particular match guaranteed a great roar from the maroons to congratulate Leanne! Naturally the goal flustered Ross High, and with our much more experienced players we were able to take advantage of the game psychologically.

Well done girls- and thanks to those extra's who stepped in to help us. A special mention should go to our goalie for the day Amy, who joined us from the youth squad as Katie was helping out the 2's. She really had a great game, with some terrific saves!
