Phenomenal game

One of the best games of the season so far for the ladies fours resulted in a 5-2 gubbin of top of the table Dunbar! Perhaps we gave them a little too much respect in the first few minutes as they quickly took control and scored in a one on one but that wasn't to last long and the fours drove up the wing to pull it back to 1-1 with a goal from Leanne. Spirits lifted it started to click and we shut what was a pretty decent team down. With what only can be described as silky smooth skills Leanne beat, 1, 2, 3 defenders and buried the ball in the far corner of the goal, keeper didn't stand a chance! Jodie was on fire at the short corners and managed to deflect 2 in a row with her stick, the third with unfortunately her foot but still a 3 for 3 stopping record!

Next up came a short corner at our end and with Leanne off Tammy stepped up for whacking the straight stike duties, utterly walloped a Dunbar girl in the foot who fell screaming, in an entirerly over dramatic fashion, to the ground only for this tactic to fail miserably as Becca quickly picked up the rebound and dunked it past the keeper to give us a bit of a cushion going into the 2nd half.

A rousing team talk by Captain Angela sent us out on a high and it wasn't long until Leanne had her hat trick and the Dunbar heads went further down as a few minutes later, yup you guessed it Mrs T got number four to put us 5-1!

Then it all went a tiny bit downhill, just when Coach David turned up with Judith to introduce new baby Sweets to the world of women's hockey (lucky boy!) A mixture of low sun mixed with similar kit which made it hard to pick out our players (deffo need to wear white next time!) and tiredness after our sterling efforts meant a crazy last 15 mins when Dunbar swarmed all over our defence and managed to sneak one in to bring the score for 5-2. Unfortunately we also gave away I think 5 or 6 short corners but due to some heroics from the runners they failed to convert any of these chances. Never have a defence been so relived to hear the final whistle!

Really great game today, great passing game and some beautiful touches against what were a very good team which makes the victory all the sweeter! Big massive well done today ladies, awesome day at Forresters and we all got to coo over baby Alexander!
