High scoring for the Ladies 4s

Saturdays match was a sad day for the ladies fours defence as we lost Alida...to the FORWARDS!!!
Bottom of the table Grange were struck by illness, only had ten players and a rookie goalkeeper so we could afford to try out some different combinations. Needless to say Dow did not disappoint and the first goal was slammed home about 10minutes in, closely followed by the second a few minutes later. The fours held possession well and on a brake away Becca got in on the action with the third goal. Our silky smooth passing game came into its own as the ball sliced across the pitch from left to right, we could do no wrong. It was just like watching Brazil... At one point Lynsey ended up over the halfway line, reports of a nosebleed from being so far up were unfounded.
Next up a great strike into the D from Julia was 'helped' into the goal by Aly. It was heading in anyway. Thanks for making sure it was deffo going in tho Aly, can't be too careful with these things... ;p
Suddenly Alida decided enough was enough and it was time to exert her authority by smashing the ball into the back corner. More impressive was her hat-trick celebration heel click!
The 2nd half saw us start in a positive mood as you would when you are 5-0 up but Grange came back all guns blazing and scored off a short corner. A 2nd short was saved in spectacular ping pong fashion off Cydney's stick then my arm, still trying to figure that one out...
That spurred us back into action and Alida was feeding balls from the top of the diamond to the left and right like a woman possessed! Dow slotted home a 4th quickly followed by the goal of the match, a fast ball slotted into the left of the D which was thundered home with a sweeping crack right into the far recesses of the net. Aly smacked home her 2nd of the game to close the game out 8-1.
I know we don't really do woman of the match but I think Alida would be a worthy winner for her 'striking' performance! Great to play against a nice team too, well played ladies!
*Some of these goals may be out of order...
