Match report by Becca.

After a poor performance in our previous game, Ladies 4s were on the hunt for a win. But it wasn't going to be easy, going up against a formidable Eskvale and missing a few key players from the engine room. Thankfully Watsonians were (mostly) feeling a bit 'fresher' this week minus the Irish contingent who'd been out celebrating St Paddys.

Both teams started strong and Eskvale were the first to be awarded with a short corner, which was swiftly dealt with by the Watsonians' back four to get the ball away from the danger zone. We responded with some great attacking play which resulted in us winning a short corner at the other end. A strike in was saved by the keeper and the rebound picked up by Suze who planted it firmly in the back of the goal. We were 1-0 up and on a roll. It wasn't long before goal scoring extraordinaire Julia got in on the action, making sure a cross in from Holly found its way into goal.

Eskvale kept the pressure up and leaving a player high in our D was causing problems for the defence. A few nail biting moments saw the ball slip through to this striker but she was no match for sweeper Ellie, who was always there to..err..sweep up any sh...shots on goal. At the other end though, the gals in Maroon were on fire. Liz and Cat on their limitless energy supplies did a fantastic job running the wings and Katie G was weaving in and out of the opposition players like a terrier on the agility course at crufts. It was only a matter of time before we scored again and this time it was Olivia's turn to convert another Holly cross into a goal. 3-0 up at half time.

Half time also signalled the loss of Ellie from our defence as she went off to get dressed up for a ball....ehh priorities? This meant Julia and Holly were called up to job share the opening in defence. Decision pending whether this appointment will be permanent. Watsonians continued to pile on the pressure in the second half, having the majority of chances. With just one sub though tiredness was setting in and we just couldn't get another goal. A few final advances from Eskvale, meant our defence had to work hard to maintain a clean sheet. It was certainly a relief to hear the final whistle, the game ending 3-0 to Watsonians.
