Match 2.

The mighty Watsonians Ladies 4s returned to Tipperlinn for the second game of the season missing a few stalwarts but shored up with some new recruits we were ready to face Edinburgh Uni 7s.

Freshers week is always a great time to play the Uni's as we were hoping the previous nights um 'celebrations' would slow them down. Unfortunately we forget we are no longer 18 thus running about a hockey pitch doesn't present a significant problem after a few apple juices...

The Students came out fighting but despite a shaky start we held well until a thundering strike found the back of the net and we found ourself 1-0 down. New school girls Katie and Melissa showed mature play and a cool head when defending in the D. Unfortunately after some mad keeper skillz we lost another goal and we're down 2-0 at half time.

A rousing team talk by Captain Julia and things settled down a bit in the second half and we started to figure out where we were all supposed to be. Julia was unlucky not to connect with several good hits into our D but the Students weren't done and a scrappy third followed by a cracking 4th went in. The momentum had somewhat shifted towards and the Mighty 'sonians pressed hard praying the hangovers had finally kicked in. Fi, deciding that procedings were not lively enough for the gathered masses put on a spectacular display of gymnastics half way down the pitch. Obviously in awe it distracted the students just long enough for us to get past their defence and for Liz to finally get one in the goal, huzzah!!!!

Onwards and upwards, we had a Cup game to win 6-1 with the Ladies 5s on the Sunday...
