It's safe to say yesterday was not our day.
Casting back to when 12 slightly nervy Ladies 4s made the journey to Woodmill High School, Dunfermline. The conditions were windy and the location confusing. The opposition were our top of the table competition after our recent early run of wins in East District 1. If only this story ended there... (don't worry it won't be much longer).
After our Men's 6s completed their face-off against Carnegie it was our slightly delayed turn, once both of the previous game's umpires made some kit changes that Superman would be impressed by. Whistle blown, the game was a go. The first half was a close affair, until the last 10 minutes when suddenly the scoreline told another story, Dunfermline scored 3 goals in rapid succession.
A frought half-time was spent figuring out where it all went wrong but at least we had half-time oranges, kindly donated by the opposition.
The second half started off showing hints of our old selves but we didn't manage to capitalise on it. Carnegie just kept on coming and ultimately proved too much for us, scoring another 4, one of which was a true beauty that sailed into the top of the net.
A result that was tough to take but certainly character building. In the inspirational words of Britney, we'll bounce back and be "stronger than yesterday".
Our players of the match were Judith and Rozy, who as key members of our defense never really had much of a break and yet they never gave up. We should all be more Judith and Rozy.
On to next week.
