Once again the Watsonians Mens 3s arrived at Fortress Tipperlin for a league match against Stirling Wanderers 1s, having already started the weekend with a 10-1 victory away to Kinross the previous day. The game started off less than perfect, conceding a Penalty Corner in the first 10 minutes after a defensive meltdown from myself, leading to this report. After a fine save from keeper Sam Gibb we started our own attack resulting in a Penalty Corner of our own. Young Euan Burgess stepped forward and with a dribble of a flick we were one goal ahead.
Towards the latter stages of the first half the team played some outstanding interchange play resulting in two more goals, the first of which came from the team's leader Greg Robertson, followed quickly by one for Ronan Kingsbury. Going into half time we were 3-0 up after playing some very good hockey and coach Swarbrick had little to say.
The second half was not as fruitful as the first, resulting in more cards than goals. In the last 10 minutes we had two cards for some questionable tackling, leading to some nervous times for the bench and the packed grandstands of supporters. After a rather physical match against some good opposition we came out on top with a 3-0 victory. Another good win for the team and a great weekend resulting in six points.
