Last Saturday was a home game against Menzieshill 2’s. Straight from the offset Watsonian’s passed the ball around not allowing the Menzieshill to touch the ball, Euan Burgess gave a through ball to Augustin Bellet putting him through on goal. Augustin Bellet got in-front of the goal keeper and easily slotted the ball into the bottom right corner in the first minutes of the game.
This gave Watsonian’s the upper hand but it took a while for them to break through the defence from there, however in the 20th minute Callum Vere was given a through ball down the right side, he hit ball into the D, it deflected of a Menzieshill players stick and Graham Stenhouse was able to get a touch on the ball in the air and placed it into the side netting of the goal. Half time 2.0.

The second half started slowly but in the 45th minute Menzieshill were awarded their 2nd short corner and were able to put the ball into the back of the net. After this Watsonians made a counter attack in the 50th minute, Conor Bond ran half the pitch getting past two Menziehill players and made a straight pass across the goal to Callum Vere who was easily able to tap it in. Vere then earned the man of the match by a 60 yard defensive sprint past many of his team mates to block a certain goal. The first green card of the game was picked up by Callum Vere who came in behind one of the Menzieshill players and took him down.

This was another great result to the start of the season for Watsonian’s. Next up is Western 2’s away. Thanks to Swarbz for umpiring.
