Saturday's Autumnal chill continued through the weekend and was soon accompanied by a rather strong breeze as the first XI squad descended on Tipperlinn for their second game of the weekend. Not at their vintage best, they still managed to come away with a comfortable victory. The visitors arrived in drips and drabs as a result of the ongoing construction of the New Forth Road Bridge. Reports Blair Wynd arranged this closure specifically to disrupt the travelling party are completely unfounded.

The initial stages kicked off as most games have done recently with the lads on the front foot. Speaking of feet, surprisingly the home side found themselves behind early on, due to a lovely composed finish with his right foot from twelve yards from the hapless Resident Doctor McCrossan. It was an OG that will surely be shown on the highlight reel for years to come. In this writers view how the protagonist escaped the DOD award is beyond me.

The lads didn't let this early set back disrupt their flow however and soon the attacking threat posed by the superb attacking rotation of Brown, McKenna & Nicholson had them first back on level terms and then ahead. The equaliser came from a superb attacking move, in which the home side retained possession, before Nicholson attacked the D down the left. His cross was superbly finished from twelve inches by the enigmatic Irishman Michael McKenna.

Greg Nicolson then took the came by the scruff, propelling the lads into an unassailable position. After his initial effort rebounded off the keeper, second time around the keeper got nowhere near it as the local Sports Shop specialist rifled it through his legs with a tomahawk reverse.

Scott Sutherland soon after fired another two text book drag flicks into the roof of each corner of the net. The summer signing continues to light up National 2 and home fans are keen to see this continue. The man himself is looking forward to ripping a few of those text book flicks in the Scottish Cup this coming Saturday.

Harris pulled a lovely goal back just after the break with young Albert rifling a reverse into the side of the back board passed Luke Campbell. Any thoughts of a comeback were soon extinguished as Greg Nicholson rolled back the years with a lovely composed finish from around the penalty spot. A swift breaking move soon found its way into the D, with plenty of options around him, Nicholson took on the responsibility and nicely deflected it passed a stranded keeper. Game over.

A weekend with two games, six points and 13 goals, a solid platform with which to head into another derby encounter in the Scottish Cup this Saturday away to Edinburgh Uni. 4pm pass back at Peffermill. Bring the noise.
