After the disappointment of the cup on the Saturday Watsonains Men's 1's travelled across the bridge to face Perthshire. Given the reports of the bridge being closed captain McCurdy was keen for an early start. Meaning the team arrived at the pitch a whole hour and 45 minutes early. The team enjoyed some fun with a rugby ball some could easily make it into the England squad with the poor hand touches.

The first 10 minutes were mostly one sided with the men in maroon putting a great amount of pressure on the Perthshire goal but failing to convert. The first big talking point in the game was when Nickerson was found in acers of space on the left hand side and the opportunity to drive towards the Perthshire goal only to have his run cut short after a Perthshire player came in from behind and took the young start to ground with a loud blow of the whistle from the umpire (Fraser Munro) and straight to the pocket for a 10 minute yellow. Soon later despite the Perthshire's captains request for there to be no swearing said some colourfully remarks to McKenna some would say he was lucky only to see a yellow so the men from the capital were up 2 men for 5 minutes. Despite a number of PC nothing was going in for the men in maroon.

There was much controversy sounding the first goal for Watsonains with the Perthshire bench claiming foot but the goal was awarded. The capital side had a big shout of a Penalty stroke but nothing came of it and play was waved on.

Second half the men in maroon where going into the glorious sunshine no complaints about the weather but apples were coming from both sets players but the umpires stuck to their guns in their decision making. Goals from open play and goals from a penalty corner saw the maroon men control the game. However still needed to be aware about the ball over the top threat that came from Perthshire. One resulted in Nickerson having to putting his body on the line (but did use his stick) to clear a goal bound effort after the ball had been flicked over keeper Luke Campbell's head. With Confusion amounts the Watsonains defence to whose ball it was lead to Perthshire getting a foot in the game to bring the score to 4 - 2 but this did end in captain McCurdy sitting down for two minutes for fail to control the maroon side's back chat. With the dyeing minutes there was still time for one more goal. A brake away was finished in the back on the net. But there was also still time for McKenna to pick up a green for appealing after in the umpires eyes tried to manufacture a PC.

Final score 5-1 this results put's the 1's into forth in National 2 with 2 games in hand over 3rd and 2nd place Granite City and Inverleith both of whom has suffered defeat to the men in Maroon. Next up St Andrew's University. The students currently top of the league having played 1 more game the capital side. This weekend could see the 1's take top of National 2 depending on other results whilst still knowing that the games in hand could play a key role in the out come and the aim of returning to National 1. Well done to all who played this weekend.
