Remember your PE kit, Mr McCurdy

Harris vs Watsonians
DISC - Saturday 4th November

The fairness of democracy has prevailed as a discipline technique again for the Watsons squad. We are yet to see another lob and I'm sure this reporter for one will take more care in the packing of match day kit. However, the always prompt Captain Swarbrick threw a last minute sock change in the email which could easily have caused some packing confusion for the squad.

With high standards and expectations of themselves the squad were disappointed with the previous weekends draw. The team looked to solidify themselves mid week and continue to build towards the upcoming game against league rivals Gordonians. Despite this and despite his work on kitting the team, Vice Captain Daniel Prentice damped the team spirit by turning up at training sporting the full kit of a previous club. Ex-family member Ben Allen Christened the young returner to the club a 'full kit wanker' and rightly cast his DOD vote as such. Something which clearly slipped the minds of other team mates.

In the prematch team talk Coach Leonard again delivered his point of enforcing dominance with early goals. A point that Aussie import Ben Allen clearly missed as for the second weekend in a row he failed to successfully convert a well rehearsed corner routine. This allowed the young Adonis from South Africa Madison to step up to the plate and close the goal tally between the two for the season. The first half saw Madison bin two off the top and earn his big money international transfer.

Press had eagerly covered the return of Craig Beattie, and rightly so. A dynamic and true team player - he was a much valued distributor of the ball in previous seasons. Unfortunately the call up seemed premature as the Motherwell raised PE teacher battled through the warmup before being stretchered off minutes into his appearance. Dedicating his goal to the fallen hero, school boy Roddy Craig made it three for half time after tactically running down the clock and taking his time over his reverse in a quiet D.

Three up at the start of the second half and the limelight swung to defender Ewan Swann. Prone to menstrual mood swings and the attention of the public after a successful BBC detective series Ewan decided to create some drama. A lone thundering Harris forward was at a highly dangerous baseline shooting angle on his reverse. Emulating Lyam Hollis's career ending slide tackle (that is his own playing career, with his own slide tackle) Ewan used the Dundee sewerage as a lubricant to save the squad from the imminent threat and managed to down grade the given goal to a short corner. Harris made the most of this opportunity and put the ball top bin just above Sondico sponsored right back McCurdy on the line.

3-1 and with Allen again trundling one off the top, the ball fell to team heart throb and poster boy Madison who made it a hatrick with the rebound. With more sustained pressure from Watsonians, Harris's frustration led to a red card and a further goal which Prentice was a key orchestrator in. Concerned that his contract was on the line it was the big Australian who topped it off to 7-1 with two ticklers into the bottom right from corners.

In the post match debrief, Coach Leonard was respectful of the tactics, grit and athleticism shown by Harris and seemed pleased that Watsonians had wadded through the sludge to victory. Concentration is now set firmly on next weekends titanic clash at Tipperlinn.

Final score 7-1
