8. Frequently Asked Questions - August 2023

We've had a lot of similar questions on certain themes from parents, so have created a short list of FAQs below - we hope this helps. Just a reminder that you can find answers to most of these questions on our website under Information/Youth Information & News.

Q. My child is new to the Club - what kit do they wear to hockey coaching?
A. They can wear any sports kit to our coaching sessions. They'll need shinguards, and a mouthguard is strongly recommended. Younger players can wear training shoes - we recommend that those in S1 up wear hockey astro shoes. We can lend hockey sticks to players of all ages.

Q. My child can only attend one of the two sessions you run for their age group (P7 & older) each week - is this ok?
A. That's no problem - we appreciate that players have other activities, especially midweek, and we're very happy if players can only attend once a week. Running two sessions per week gives players a choice - and it's a bonus if they can attend both. They will still be on the register for all sessions if they want to attend occasionally.

Q. Do I receive a discount on the subscription if my child can only attend once a week?
A. Unfortunately we can't reduce subscriptions in these cases as most of our costs are fixed, regardless of attendance numbers (pitch hire, coaches, first aid, player registration fees, etc). We also have to pay competition entry fees for those playing at weekends. We aim to make our subscriptions as affordable as possible, but please contact our Treasurer if you want to pay in two instalments.

Q. When does coaching start for my child's age group?
A. The coaching schedule is on our website - Information/Youth Information & News/Youth Coaching Schedule and has been sent to all existing members. All sessions will be added to Pitchero before the new season starts.

Q. I'm having issues registering with the Club - can you help?
A. Please follow the instructions on our website - Information/Youth Information & News/How to Register.
When clicking 'JOIN' on the website, parents must create their Pitchero account in their own name, DOB and details before creating their child(ren)'s record(s) and adding them. You are applying for the role of PARENT. Once your application is approved you must then log back into Pitchero and update your child's details. We cannot approve requests for membership if all the mandatory information is not complete.
